Raptors, Wizards Meet in Post-Christmas Showdown WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A surging Toronto Raptors squad visits the struggling Washington Wizards on Friday night at Capital One Arena in a matchup of teams at opposite ends of the NBA standings. The Raptors (18-13) enter having won three of their last four, including a decisive 112-91 road victory over the Miami Heat on Tuesday. Toronto’s All-Star forward Scottie Barnes led the way with 27 points and eight rebounds, continuing a stretch of strong play. Over his last 10 games, Barnes is averaging 18.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Washington (5-23) owns the league’s worst record and is coming off a 126-109 loss in Charlotte. Rookie center Alex Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 draft, has shown flashes, recording a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Memphis on Dec. 20. He is averaging 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds over his last four contests. The teams met last month in Toronto, with the Raptors rolling to a 140-110 victory on Nov. 21. The Wizards have lost 10 of their last 11 games overall, while the Raptors have navigated a challenging December schedule with a 5-5 record in their last 10. For Toronto, support for Barnes has come from Sandro Mamukelashvili, who had 14 points and seven assists against Miami, and rookie Collin Murray-Boyles, who posted 11 points and 13 rebounds. Washington will need more consistent production beyond Sarr; Marvin Bagley III had 15 points off the bench in the loss to Charlotte. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Toronto returns home to face Golden State on Sunday. Washington remains at home to host Memphis on Sunday.
