Preview: Mavericks at Pacers INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — Two teams mired at the bottom of the NBA standings will meet Sunday when the Dallas Mavericks visit the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Mavericks (19-35) arrive on a seven-game losing skid, most recently falling 124-104 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 12. The Pacers (15-41) have lost three of their last four, including a 112-105 defeat at Washington on Thursday. Despite the teams’ struggles, the matchup features intriguing young talent. Dallas guard Brandon Williams has been a bright spot, averaging 15.6 points and 4.1 assists over his last seven games. He scored 17 points with seven assists in the loss to the Lakers. Indiana forward Jarace Walker is coming off a dominant performance, posting 19 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists against the Wizards. Over his last 10 games, Walker is averaging 16.5 points and 7.6 rebounds, showing significant development in his second season. The teams last met on Oct. 29, with Dallas securing a 107-105 home victory. The Mavericks have lost 10 of 11 since their last win on Jan. 22. Indiana has fared slightly better recently, with three wins in its last 10 contests. Defensive issues plague both clubs. Dallas has allowed an average of 120.1 points during its seven-game slide, while Indiana ranks near the bottom of the league in defensive rating. For the Mavericks, forward Naji Marshall (19 points vs. Lakers) and forward-center P.J. Washington (18 points) provide secondary scoring. The Pacers have received consistent contributions from center Jay Huff, who had 15 points and eight rebounds against Washington, and guard Ben Sheppard. The game represents a rare opportunity for either team to build momentum. Following this contest, Dallas begins a three-game road trip at Brooklyn on Tuesday. Indiana remains home to host Philadelphia on Tuesday. Sunday’s tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.
