Preview: California Golden Bears at Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum for the postseason will meet Sunday when the California Golden Bears visit the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes in a nonconference women’s basketball game organized by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST at the Watsco Center. California (17-11) arrives riding high after a 75-62 road victory at Florida State on Thursday. The Golden Bears have won four of their last six games. Miami (14-12) is also coming off a significant win, having defeated then-Stanford 66-51 at home on the same day, snapping a three-game skid. The matchup features two of the Atlantic Coast’s most dynamic guards in California’s Lulu Twidale and Miami’s Gal Raviv. Twidale is in stellar form, averaging 21.6 points over her last five games. She exploded for 30 points and six assists in the win at Florida State. Her ability to score in volume will be central to California’s attack. Raviv keyed the Hurricanes’ upset of Stanford with 19 points. The versatile guard has been a consistent contributor, averaging 14.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds over her last five contests. Her backcourt duel with Twidale will be a focal point. California’s recent success has been fueled by strong guard play. Alongside Twidale, backcourt mates Sakima Walker and Mjracle Sheppard combined for 15 points and 10 assists against the Seminoles. The Golden Bears have shown offensive firepower, scoring 95 points in a win at Pittsburgh on Feb. 8. Miami will counter with a balanced effort. Against Stanford, Ra Shaya Kyle added 11 points and five assists, while Amarachi Kimpson scored 14 off the bench. The Hurricanes’ defense held the Cardinal to just 51 points, a season-low for the opponent, a intensity they will aim to replicate. With both teams hovering around the .500 mark in conference play, this late-season nonconference clash offers a chance to bolster NCAA tournament resumes. California holds the superior overall record, but Miami will have the home-court advantage following its most impressive win of the season. After this game, California returns home to face Clemson on Thursday. Miami remains at home to host Pittsburgh on the same night.
